In lieu of regular email blasts, at the end of each month I write a brief overview of what I’ve been up to and put together a mixtape of ten songs I listened to in the last month. If you’re interested in subscribing to my quarterly email blast (only four emails a year!) click on the Quarterly Report at the bottom of the page.
Happenings
January really seemed to fly by (as it always does), can’t believe it’s already February 2010. January was an okay month, a lot of recovery and catch up.
I launched a new project, This Ain’t a Scene, which is attempting to document a slice of the Silverlake / Echo Park music scene. I took photos and interviewed twelve singers from twelve bands I love and will be publishing one a week for twelve weeks. I encourage you to follow along. I hope to assemble it into a book at some point down the road.
We also just finally released The Happy Hollows video that I completed in November last year and I’m super excited about it. Watch it here.
Random Notes
I saw Avatar and hated it. Went wine tasting for the first time and had a blast. Been commuting to work by bus and bike which is great. Went to a Polaroid art show (pictured above) and love it.

- 4. “Rich Man’s Tune” – The Union lion

- 7. “The Best Songs are Love Songs” – Rademacher
- 8. “DeLorean” – The Happy Hollows
- 9. “Switch Kids” – The Henry Clay People
- 10. “Problems of Our Own” – Light FM

In March I’ll be having a solo photography show at Origami Vinyl in Echo Park with an opening reception on February 28th.
